BI-TOPIA: The Critically Acclaimed Queer Story Lands in London for Pride

Following a celebrated run at the Edinburgh Fringe and a nationwide tour, BI-TOPIA—the solo show by writer and performer Sam Danson—makes its London debut at Seven Dials Playhouse this week as part of the venue’s Pride Season. Running from 17 to 22 June, the show offers a raw, sharply funny and deeply human exploration of bisexual identity, masculinity, trauma and mental health.

Part confessional, part battlefield, BI-TOPIA follows Sam, a self-described people-pleaser raised on war movies and military ideals, as he navigates his queerness and the fallout from a violent homophobic attack. With his father’s wartime heroism and Hollywood's hyper-masculine tropes ringing in his ears, Sam finds himself caught between what it means to be a man and what it means to be himself.

Told with high-energy physicality, biting wit and painful honesty, BI-TOPIA uses humour to unpack shame, discrimination and the rarely spotlighted experiences of bisexual men. It's a story that’s both intensely personal and heartbreakingly universal.

Originally developed in Manchester and directed by award-winning artist Rikki Beadle-Blair, BI-TOPIA has already made waves in the UK theatre scene. Critics praised its blend of compelling storytelling and fearless vulnerability.

Danson, whose creative work spans theatre, comedy, and podcasting, also developed an interactive art installation under the BI-TOPIA banner, inviting participants to share their own stories of identity and mental health. His theatre work has been lauded for its accessibility and resonance—speaking to LGBTQ+ audiences while opening the door for wider conversations about masculinity and vulnerability.

BI-TOPIA runs for six performances only, with a press night on Wednesday 18 June. With Pride Month in full swing and the conversation around mental health more urgent than ever, the show is both a celebration and a confrontation—a vivid reminder that queerness is complex, resilient, and worth listening to.
