Vetements Spring 2027
For Spring/Summer 2027, Vetements returned to the Paris men’s calendar with a stated intention to refocus on “real life” clothing. Under Guram Gvasalia, the collection was positioned as a recalibration of the brand’s identity—less spectacle, more wearability, and a return to familiar wardrobe archetypes.
Staged in an unconventional tunnel beneath the Novotel Paris Centre Tour Eiffel, the show leaned into Vetements’ established taste for disruption, even as the clothes themselves moved in a more grounded direction. The casting drew attention, with high-profile appearances including Sharon Stone, Alek Wek and Sasha Pivovarova, reinforcing the brand’s continued relationship with celebrity and cultural visibility.
The clothing, however, largely stayed within safe territory. Denim, striped shirts, trench coats, Harrington jackets and leather trousers formed the core of the collection, presented with minimal reinvention. While the intent was to create garments rooted in everyday dressing, the execution often felt familiar rather than renewed.
There were moments of utility and design intelligence—most notably reversible outerwear that flipped to checked interiors, revealing hidden construction details and playful labelling that replaced branding with the word “Clothing.” These gestures hinted at a quieter design language beneath the surface.
Still, compared to Vetements’ earlier reputation for subversion and exaggeration, Spring/Summer 2027 felt notably restrained. The focus on practicality and “real-life” dressing resulted in pieces that were easy to understand, but less compelling in terms of concept or execution.
If the intention was to strip things back to essentials, the outcome raised a question of balance: how far can a brand known for disruption simplify itself before losing its edge?
Spring/Summer 2027 suggested a house in transition—still anchored in recognisable codes, but searching for a renewed sense of purpose within them.
